Who we are

Penistone FM is a community radio station, broadcasting to the Penistone area. We've been on air since 2009. We are involved in training people to become presenters, interviewers and sound editors and we also offer the chance to study for a national qualification in radio.

How you can help

We always need show presenters and interviewers, but we also have people voicing community news and just the job ads, editing interviews, writing and acting in radio dramas as well. We are also starting a new venture into video, so we will need camera operators, lighting and sound technicians, interviewers and video editors. There are no entry requirements, just a desire to volunteer. We have volunteers from 16 to 80 in the organisation. We offer an introductory session at the station where we can get to know you and explain the set up here at the station, and so that you know what you are letting yourself in for! You can gain free training in the radio industry as a presenter or interviewer, in editing skills (audio and video), voice-acting and creative writing experience. We offer a chance to gain NCFE Level 1 Award in Radio which is a national qualification. And you'll find lots of new friends here of all ages who are prepared to help you make the best of your experiences at the radio station.
