Who we are

We are a Charity committed to tackling loneliness and social isolation in those aged 65 and over through 1:1 befriending. Volunteer befrienders are paired with an older neighbour that live nearby to pop-in, once-a-week, for a cuppa and a chat. Just one hour a week will make a huge difference to that older person’s life; just knowing that someone cares about them and values them as someone in the community. We’re all neighbours, let’s b:Friend!

How you can help

Volunteers have the opportunity to become a 1:1 befriender with an older neighbour or they can volunteer at one or more of our weekly social clubs held in various areas. Helping the group leader facilitate and deliver a wide range of activities. Or they can do both! No specific skills are required for this volunteer role aside from a desire to reduce loneliness for older people in the community. All volunteer befrienders will be required to have an Enhanced DBS background check – which the charity will provide. All volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
